Welcome! My name is Marilisa (pronounced Mary-Lisa), owner of Martel Event, and I am a wedding planner and designer based in Atlanta, Georgia serving the southeast. I found my calling in the event industry over 6 years ago and strive to be a steady guide to lead couples through one of life’s most joyous seasons- engagement!

Atlanta, being the capital city of Georgia and the largest, is blossoming with beautiful venues. With beautiful city skylines, country landscapes and historic hotels, Atlanta gives brides and grooms the chance to get married in a variety of different places. The Peachtree Club, located in Midtown Atlanta, allows guest to get married on the 28th floor with views of the city’s skyline. I’m drawn to inspiration from natural elements and locations so that my couples and their guests can experience unique celebrations that tap into all the senses with details that are thoughtful, not overdone. My role and purpose is always to guide with gentleness and ease, never to hijack someone’s vision because the foundation of my process is your love story. I fully understand that they are not looking to make wedding planning a full time job and I enjoy offering a planning experience to alleviate stress so they have time to truly enjoy their engagement. I’m inspired by unique celebrations that tap into all the senses with details that are thoughtful, not overdone.

Throughout the process we hone the design until the final product outlines all of the aesthetic elements- from attire to flowers, paper goods to linens, decor and lighting to place settings, signage and favors. With a planning background built on logistical expertise, I firmly believe that your design would be impossible without solid logistics. From the very beginning we coordinate your anticipated guest count with the dimensions of the space or tent, ensuring size and quantity of tables and chairs will allow for best flow both practically and aesthetically. Since most of my Atlanta GA weddings involve outdoor ceremonies and receptions, we also discuss and create fluid, extensive back-up plans so that your guests would never know if they are actually experiencing “plan B.”

FAQs About the Atlanta Wedding Planning Process

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?

I pride myself in offering full service planning for your Atlanta wedding which means the number of times we meet, chat on the phone or communicate via e-mail is unlimited. While communication through e-mail is weekly (if not daily during some portions of the planning) our in person consultations are always at your convenience of location and timing. My office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am EST to 5:00pm EST. Weekends are typically reserved for events and family time, but I fully understand when exceptions need to be made for weekend appointments. Beyond our planning meetings, I am always in attendance for consultations with venues, caterers, florists, rentals, decor, invitations, attire, etc.

DO YOU HELP ME CREATE A BUDGET?

Of course! One of the very first steps in our planning process is sitting down together to create a budget based on the scope and scale of your Atlanta GA wedding. Pricing for my services is based on these elements so we build that cost into the budget as well. We also discuss your priorities and which areas are most important to you and for guest experience. These priorities serve as a guide while I create an itemized proposal of realistic estimates for every facet of the wedding or event. Using our online planning tool, we update the budget throughout the planning process from estimates to actual costs, payments made and a schedule of remaining balances due.

I WANT OTHERS TO BE INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING PROCESS (MOM, FIANCE, ETC), IS THAT OK?

Absolutely. When we first chat, Skype or sit down together, we will discuss who your key decision maker will be. This person, whether you or a family member, will have the final say on all decisions in regards to budget and aesthetics.

I LOVE DIY ELEMENTS, BUT I DON’T HAVE TIME TO TAKE ON THOSE PROJECTS. DO YOU HELP WITH THAT?

It’s my pleasure to take this burden off my clients! I handle everything from wood staining, invitation stuffing, welcome bag assembling, gift tag stamping and favor wrapping. It’s another reason why I only work with a limited number of clients per year – to ensure I have the time and space to handle these personal-touch projects for my busy clients.

DO I HAVE TO USE YOUR RECOMMENDED VENDORS?

By no means- I love working with new people and new spaces! My trusted list of preferred partners is curated from working with seasoned professionals on multiple Atlanta GA weddings. It consists of who I believe is the best of the best because of the experience they give my clients in the planning process and on the day-of. Those strong relationships help save my clients both time and money.
